work that doesn't feel like work
I don't really want to go to work today. It won't feel like work too much, though, because I'm working the parade and Fantasmic (Disney-MGM Studios's night show). I picked up today's shift because it will be my sixth day in one week, which means I'll get time and a half for it. I picked up a shift threre on Tuesday and it was fun, because I haven't worked there in about four years. I worked at Fantasmic from January to August of 1999. I hated it then, because I worked there all the time and I got sick of it. It's picking up TONS of trash at the end of the night and dealing with a lot of tired, cranky people who shouldn't have woken their kids up at the butt crack of dawn to go to Disney from sun-up to sun-down with their tired, cranky kids. They take their frustrations out on anyone close by, and usually that happens to be a cast member. Anyway, thankfully, I didn't have to deal with any angry guests on Tuesday, so I was willing to get six hours of overtime pay to work there again tonight. I need the money. And like I said before, it doesn't really feel like work, because it's been so long that I don't know what's going on and everyone thinks I'm new and I can use that to my advantage. I let them tell me what to do and I don't mind. The only time it did feel like work was when it started pouring buckets and we had to just stand there in it while all the guests ran for cover. I was freezing. And of course, I had left my raincoat in my backpack in the breakroom and was too far away to have time to get it. That sucked. But the rest of the night went by smoothly and it was an easy day of work. We'll see if I can say that again after tonight.
