I stole this from dana-elayne (hope you don't mind!). Of course, I changed a lot of the answers. I didn't realize how many different ways people call the same thing (people in different parts of the country). And I added the last one, because I know people call it different things. But here's my answers:

What do you call:

A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks.
stream

What the thing you push around the grocery store is called.
basket, but someone once made fun of me for calling it that, so I try to call it a cart.

A metal container to carry a meal in.
lunch box

The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in.
pan

The piece of furniture that seats three people.
couch

The device on the outside of the house that carries rain off the roof.
gutter

The covered area outside a house where people sit in the evening.
porch

Carbonated, sweetened, non-alcoholic beverages.

government property (haha). I know there�s a name for it, but I can�t remember. I live in an apartment, so I don�t have that.

they�re the same, but supper is old-fashioned. My grandmother used to call lunch dinner and dinner supper.

depends on how the classroom is set up. They pass it down the row or hand it to the teacher
